I have a set of 13x5.5 and a set of 13x6...I am debating on which to use.
I notice some of you are running 185/60/13 on the front adn 205/60/13 on the rear.
Why not run 205/60 all the way around? Or 185 all the way around??

I am lucky enough to have 6" wheels with the proper offset and use 185/60's on the front because it keeps the steering light and the car feels better balanced. The 205's on the rear are pretty much just for show. There's not really enough power available to justify them.
I wouldn't recomend using 205's on a 5.5" rim ... I think they would be too "loose". Likewise ... I don't think you could use anything smaller than 185s on a 6" rim - too "tight".

The 205/60 required at least a 13x5.5 wheel but I much prefer using them on 13 x6.
The 205/60 in the rear make sense for some reason:
1) they make the speedo more accurate than the lower 185/60-13
2) they help the car handle better in racing situation (less oversteer).
I would recommend them for people doing autocrosses or lapping regularly BUT the 185/60-13 would still do a good job for those purpose, and they are perfect for street use. They are also less expensive and have the big advantage of being the same on all corner so swapping front to rear would be possible to wear them at the same rate.

They looked impossible (to me), way too tall, and bulbuous.
It's a little hard to see in this pic:
It may have just been the brand of tires they were, but the tall sidewall made them feel woobly compared to 185s. If they had been mounted on 7" rims, they may have been better.
The only good reason for using them would be to get taller gearing.
BTW, 205s won't work on the front w/o rubbing, I am pretty sure.

I am lucky enough to have 6" wheels with the proper offset and use 185/60's on the front because it keeps the steering light and the car feels better balanced. The 205's on the rear are pretty much just for show. There's not really enough power available to justify them.
I wouldn't recomend using 205's on a 5.5" rim ... I think they would be too "loose". Likewise ... I don't think you could use anything smaller than 185s on a 6" rim - too "tight".
I don't see any reason not to try 6" on the rear and 5.5" on the front.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

The 205/60 required at least a 13x5.5 wheel but I much prefer using them on 13 x6.
The 205/60 in the rear make sense for some reason:
1) they make the speedo more accurate than the lower 185/60-13
2) they help the car handle better in racing situation (less oversteer).
I would recommend them for people doing autocrosses or lapping regularly BUT the 185/60-13 would still do a good job for those purpose, and they are perfect for street use. They are also less expensive and have the big advantage of being the same on all corner so swapping front to rear would be possible to wear them at the same rate.

They looked impossible (to me), way too tall, and bulbuous.
It's a little hard to see in this pic:
It may have just been the brand of tires they were, but the tall sidewall made them feel woobly compared to 185s. If they had been mounted on 7" rims, they may have been better.
The only good reason for using them would be to get taller gearing.
BTW, 205s won't work on the front w/o rubbing, I am pretty sure.
