I actually have a copy of the IDF article I did for the FLU newsletter (yes, before the internet we had a paper newsletter). Anyway all I mentioned in the article was making the filter housing from one off an "early" Escort. Have no idea what year that would be but can't be hard to find. Again, it was the filter for a single carb. You would have to have access to a junk yard that never gets rid of their cars from the 70s and 80s. I seriously doubt one would show up on eBay.

I just went looking for at least another pic...did find large oval filters, but not as big as what was posted here. Really rather just have an intake box anyways, and a remote filter, as I want to collect cool air off to the side anyways...

actually, if you cut holes in the engine cover the sky REALLY is the limit in downdrafts (as they go up)

This is true, and putting them on some really tall velocity stacks is even more enchanting....in fact let's forget the filters and go for that old CanAm look.

That air box looks great. Would be nice if it was done in clear plastic. May clear smoked to match the Saratoga Top?
