Having just done a search for an X1/9 windshield, I'm amazed at what I found. About a year ago, maybe less, I started searching for one and found several new and fairly cheap (around $200). So now the time has come to do the deed as the pile of new parts acquired to go on the X has reached critical mass and I call the sources I had found previously. Most had none and those that did wanted almost $700!
So I called my favorite glass place - they did a PERFECT job on my VW for $100 cheaper than everyone else and ask them to search. The next morning the lady from the glass place calls and says that she hadn't found one, but did have the number of a place that deals exclusively in obscure glass. Great!
I call the place half expecting to be laughed off the phone, and boy was I surprised! The guy that answered knew EXACTLY what I was asking for, was selling them at $280, and had a few in stock. The reason they were $280, he explained, was that he had found a source in the UK that still made them and the extra money was for shipping expenses. Fine, whatever, it ain't $700 - SEND ME ONE!
The company name is Locan Glass, they're in Boston, MA and the Phone # is 1-800 345 9595. I got a call from the trucking company today - it'll be on my doorstep Monday!
Also, Matthew's Parts in Alabama has one used (already out of the car and intact) for $125. 1-800-533-3839. I've bought stuff from them - they have good prices and are nice people.
Get them while you can!

Worse case scenario one would have to fab a new frame to accomodate newer glass. = Much work.
What kind of shipping costs are added to the $280?
