Santa’s elf murders the bird who can’t fly….

True Classic
Christmas - holiday TV reality: in Rankin-Bass’s ‘Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer’ (1965), during the end credits, Santa‘s elf throws the misfit bird who can’t fly to its certain demise. My 10-year-old nephew pointed this out to me in horror. I’ve never been able to watch it again with the same optimism. No umbrella for birdy….

@50:35, watch it again- it's not that bad, Birdy took off, the elf waved.
He flapped his wings, and then plummeted to Earth. It’s in the narrative, earlier, 33:09 “how would you like to be a bird that doesn’t fly - I swim.”
Must have been a dark, in-joke by the animators. Now, it can’t be unseen….lol

There you go - mail from readers cause new credits, for which the creators didn’t watch the previous, relevant show content. Santa’s elf is a misfit-killer! Facing the truth, or years of therapy, people believe what they want to believe from their childhood. lol

They were over water close to the surface, so the swimming bird was okay.
A Sully Sullenberg landing? Lol. Whatever keeps you out of psychiatric care. It's like Mr. Potter getting away with stealing the $6k, never taken to task by the Hayes Law...
