'79 5 Speed tranny - what is thread pitch on speedo cable drive?

It looks to me to be 18mm x 1.5 pitch, but I'm not positive.

My drive is slightly stripped, so cable end will not screw all the way down - want to repair threads, if possible

I machined an adaptor so I could slide hammer out the speedo drive. It works nicely and the thread was 18x1.5
