Another dumb question about speedo/gauge assbly

There are 6 or 8 hex head screws that appear to hold the clear lens/face on the cluster. Those are what actually hold the thing in the dash. Once you remove those simply wiggle the assembly out. It will only come out about 2-2.5 inches because of the speedO cable. You have to first loosen that and slide it off the speedometer. There will also be 3 or 4 plugs that you will have to unplug to fully remove the cluster. This job is super easy and only takes maybe 5 minutes.:italia:

5, actually.

If you have the split speedometer cable with the coupling in the cowl, just undo this coupling and push the cluster out a few inches by the stub cable (after removing the screws, of course). This will allow you to grab the cluster and pull it out. The stub cable can stay attached to the cluster. There is a split rubber grommet in the speedometer cable hole, it will probably pop out as you pull the cluster, make sure you don't lose it.

Later models with the "EX GAS SENSOR" warning light above the coolant temperature gauge have a yellow/red wire coming out from the speedometer and snaking its way down behind the console. This wire has no connector; you'll have to cut it. It is for a 30k mile counter behind the console.
