[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->First, it is easier to remove the cluster if the steering wheel is removed, less chance of scratching the plexiglass faceplate.

Next open the front bonnet or hood and remove the grille on the driver's side. one of the screws is hidden, as it is screwed from the underside of the grilled and requires a small hex driver. You may not have to do this if your hands are small and you are nimble.

Carefully reach in to the cowl space and find the coupling for the speedometer cable. slide the plastic sleeve away from the joint. It should slip off relatively easily. Then push the short length of cable from this joint to the instrument cluster to the rear of the car. That should move the cluster out far enough for you to either remove the other end of the short cable from the cluster or remove the grommet around the cable and remove the short cable and cluster together.

Finally, if your car is fuel injected there is a yellow wire that cannot be removed from the back of the cluster, it is fixed in place. All the other wires are into unique connectors (so you can't get them mixed up). Cut the yellow wire (it is for the oxygen sensor warning light and fit on butt connectors so you can restore the connection when you go to reinstall the cluster.

That's it. The trickiest part is getting the grille off. Don't force it otherwise you'll break it. Also the plastic connectors on the speedo cable get brittle over time so there is a good chance you will find the joint broken or it breaks in your hands. Replacements are currently available.
