I'm looking at putting in the am/fm/dvd/7 " Garmin gps/iphone-bluetooth system into my X...the Kenwood KVT 696 and the 610 Nav unit. Anyone used either of these before and can recommend or advise against them?

...nice choice to look at.
Many NAv units are not waterproof, so think about where to install.
GPS antennas are best mounted on metal surfaces to improve reception. If the antenna is hidden, there's one less eyeball opportunity for thievery.
The 696 is a motorized flip up unit; which likely will block the air vents. In winter time with the heater on ...
I've been looking at Boss Audio units; some are flip down. And are 80w max power as apposed to 50w on many others ... that extra power is a little 'louder' but an external amp is the better audio solution and experience ...
