At long last a pre-filter that fits.

True Classic
I've been looking on and off for 15 years for a fuel filter with 1/2" or 12mm inlet and outlet that would fit before the pump. 15 years ago I put a 3/8" filter on and tightened the clamps real tight. Surprisingly it lasted this long but now I have a much better solution.

The filter is NAPA part number FIL3248. It is a 149 micron filter with 1/2" inlet and outlet. http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail.aspx?R=FIL3248_0158177634

I used 1/2" hose even though I think 12mm would work slightly better because none of my suppliers had 12mm in less than 5 meter rolls. The 1/2" work nearly perfect just slightly looser than I would like on the pump and tank.

Here is what it looked like with my ghetto redneck setup.

And here is what it looked like after

I used http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Results.aspx?Ntt=FIL3299&Ntk=Keyword&Nty=1&N=0

in the past and I actually was going to head out to my local NAPA and grab one as my pump is gettin noisy and will need some attention.

I have a slightly cheaper option now :)

Thanks,
Tim

Now that I finally found one there seems to be a whole bunch out there now. The one you are using is a 10 micron and would probably clog fairly quick. I'm thinking that 149 micron is still probably way better than the factory sock and will probably last nearly forever. The 3/8 one I had on there had 15 years and 35k miles on and it was probably 50% clogged. I think it was a 10 micron filter.
