Today I had some better luck:
On my car the A/C was removed by a the PO, and he'd left 4 wires from various switches in the front trunk. I found I could operate the 2nd radiator fan from these. The purple wires go to the fan and the green and blue wires go to the cabin where they attached to the anti-frost switch. I just hooked the ones in the front trunk up to each other and led the anti-frost end to one of the spare switches on the dash and presto. It went so easily I can't believe it, I'm still waiting to find out I created a horrible short somewhere. So far so good.

My car had a/c also and that's what I did (along w/Tony and many others) when I pulled the a/c out. That way you don't have to worry about when to hit the switch. But, to each his own.
