brake system reassembly - what to put on threads

Gary McCormick

True Classic
Will be reassembling a number of brake and clutch systems and am wondering if there are recommendations for what, if anything to put on the threads (loc-tite by color, anti-sieze compound, etc.)
such as:

fasteners
- small bolt for holding dust shield to body?
- two bolts for holding rear support bracket to body?
- two long bolts/nuts for attaching masters to pedal assembly?
- four bolts for installing pedal assembly?

hydraulic components
- all of the brake and clutch pipes to the master cylinders and distribution blocks?

Make sure the bubble flare is clean and in good condition before trying to assemble, a small defect can cause a leak.

Do put a tiny amount of anti-sieze in the threads, this will prevent problems in the future.

I would suggest replacing the old bots and using medium strength Loctite (blue) when putting it all back together. Do clean up the threads with a quality tap and rinse with brake cleaner before applying Loctite.

rubber sleeve on e-brake cable is shot - is there a replacment?

Removing e-brake cable from left rear caliper reveals the the rubber sleeve/boot around the cable and spring is really about seven partial sleeves. Cable, spring and other parts seem to be fine.

Is there a way to replace it? If I don't replace it, is there a suggested alternative way to protect the spring from premature failure?
