Complete list of bearings required for Diff & Transmission

Hi guys,

I'm in the process of locating a few bearings for my 4 Speed box however, I'm getting confused as to which part numbers I'm looking for and the subsequent SKF part numbers for them.

This site has been helpful http://www.spiderroadster.com/TRANSPRICE.htm but I'm not 100% certain I've got the complete list of bearings I require to replace all diff and transmission bearings.

The part numbers I have so far are:

#7631313 SKF # ??
#4177463 main bearings SKF #639058
#5947020 SKF # ?? (input shaft bearings) - I'm pretty sure this is the bearing my father in law ordered for me

Can anyone tell me if I need any other bearings or have I exhausted the list.
Also, Am I right to assume that for the 4 speed box, the input shaft bearing (#5947020) sits on one end and the other bearing (#7631313) sits at the other end (fastened with conical washers and circlip)?

If I've done my maths correctly, what i need to order is:
1x 7631313
1x 5947020
2x 4177463

If I'm way off here, can someone please point me in the right direction?

Many thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Dave

Dave, your way off... those are Fiat part numbers not SKF part numbers, the bearing guy will look at you strangely if you quote him those.

Bearings should have the numbers etched onto them, clean them up and look closely.

The four and five speed use slightly different bearing sets too ... well a lot more than slightly if you count the diff carrier bearings which are completely different...

Jay's parts page I gave you the link to is a good guide, but don't read it as gospel.

To help you out....these are the correct numbers for your car.

input shaft right (motor end) Fiat 24901150 - SKF 62/22
input shaft left Fiat 4190790 - SKF 616034A
cluster shaft right Fiat 4204212 - SKF NJ2304/635220
cluster shaft left Fiat 4190790 - SKF 616034A
Differential (x2) Fiat 4177463 - SKF 639058

see what you can find... I have a few diff bearings in stock... maybe some of the others.

If you change out the diff bearings you need to set up the bearing preload again, the other bearings have no preload settings but still need to be fitted correctly. Make sure you install the belville washers opposing each other or the circlip will come loose and destroy the internals... usually a good idea to replace the circlip too...cheap insurance.

Thanks Steve, yeah I'm sure the bearing guy would be scratching his head if I gave him those numbers, He has all the bearings at the moment so I can't get to them to see the part numbers. Thanks for posting the numbers for me! I'll get in touch when I have a better picture of what I need and what my father in law has already sourced.

Cheers, Dave

Part number 5 SPD

Steve
Can you supply the part number for the 5 speeds FI 1986?
I plan to rebuilt my trany also.
Thanks

Yves,

input shaft right (motor end) Fiat 4402118 - SKF NJ 2/22 TN9
input shaft left Fiat 82311247 - SKF BAQB 633061 A
cluster shaft right Fiat 4391210 - SKF BC1B 635251
cluster shaft left Fiat 4190790 - SKF 616034A
Differential (x2) Fiat 4393442 - SKF 32009X

82311247 superceeds to 5985547, this bearing (BAQB 633061 A) is dimensionally identical to the four speeds (4190790 -SKF 616034A) but BAQB 633061A has the split inner race, and is sometimes found on both the input and cluster shafts... I guess it depended on what was plentiful in the parts bin at the time, they can be interchanged, but the split type inner race bearing is easier to fit.

4391210 - SKF BC1B 635251 (25x52x21) is similar to the equivalent four speed item Fiat 4204212 - SKF NJ2304/635220 (20x52x21) but fits the larger pinion shaft of the five speed.

The right input shaft bearing, Fiat 4402118 - SKF NJ2/22 TN9 (22x50x14) is dimensionally identical to the four speed equivalent (Fiat 24901150 - SKF 62/22 also 22x50x14) but the later gearbox bearing is a roller bearing as opposed to the ball bearing of the earlier gearboxes...this Fiat number (4402118) also superceeds to Fiat 5947020

No Problem Yves,

I had to look up all the numbers anyway and source a few of the bearings for myself as I'm about to do another 4 to 5 speed conversion...

You can find all this info out there in the public domain, but having it condensed down into just what you need to know helps.

Wiki this?

That list of bearings by part #'s should be bookmarked and saved some how... Not sure who updates the Wiki?
