Crashtest Audi Q7 vs Fiat 500

I found an interesting video on YouTube
How a Fiat 500 resist to a front crash with Audi Q7.

at 58 seconds, does the driver air bag fail? or is it normal for them to pop like that during a crash?

Hmm...

I would be curious to see the front footwell of the 500. It might have some problems. Also, did the drivers side airbag seem to deflate too soon?

The kid in the back of the Audi took the worst hit from what I can see. It probably would have broke his neck.

in the first few seconds, did anyone else notice the compression on the front passenger side tire  !?

Physics is a Bitch

No matter how good the design is and how many air bags there are, physics is a bitch when a 5,192 lb SUV goes head-on against a 2,000 lb subcompact.

Here's a train wreck:

And with a weight disparity of only 3,262 lb of Camry vs. 2,311 lb for the Yaris, this Yaris gets toasted--look at the passenger compartment "disintegrate" as the IIHS spokesperson says in another video.

Besides the kid in the Q7 being turned into a pretzel...

look at the footage from the interior of the Q7. Doesn't it seem that the airbag is pushing/directing the driver's head towards the side window and A pillar?

I remember reading something that because of airbags in steering wheels, you should now have your hands at the 4 and 8 o'clock positions (instead of 2 and 10) because the airbag will push your hands up and out with your left arm going towards the side window possibly ending up in a dangerous position (like through the now broken glass!).

i saw before a crash test, WATCH IT

It's all relative... Train -vs- 18 wheeler:

There are SUV driver who believe they are safe in any conditions due to size, 4WD and etc..

Drivers do the most curious things??

While a larger vehicle will always PULVERIZE a smaller vehicle in a crash, larger vehicles like SUV's, trucks and etc cannot drive their way out of a crash easily without losing control or rolling over. Their active safety is poor. In contrast, a FIAT 500 (or similar vehicle) should be quite capable of driving out of potential collisions..

Given a choice, me prefers to be in a smaller vehicle that is extremely capable of driving out of trouble and it required, a structure Strong enough to survive the crash (ala x1/9).
