It is about the size of the connectors that plug into the switches in the console (hazard, etc.). It has several different wiress running into it...problem is, everything seems to work - except for my instrument dimmer switch and some of the dash lights (a/c controls in particular). I also found the little fiberoptic lamp holder and it does in fact need a bulb...tomorrow's project. Any info. on this little green connector?

One spade has a dual black wire going to it, one spae has a dual red/yellow going to it. One has a dual pink (no tracer) going to it, and the other has a single blue/red going to it... I do have only three switches in my console like Steve said. I thought maybe radio, but I have a radio in and it looks to have used factory wiring for at least part of it. I have a/c in my car, doesn't cool any (needs freon) but it will turn on so I don't think that's it...could it be a factory wiring harness for fog lights maybe? Were they an option on american spec cars where they just wired everything and only plugged them in when you actaully got the lights installed? The defroster and interior light switch operate the exact same way (found out the hard way) so they are actually interchangeable with each other (except for the label on the front)...maybe if I plug it into that harness it will make something happen...on second though, don't want to fry my electricals...let me know if you guys figure anything out!

PPS - I need one of the little brass inserts that goes in a power window switch...one of mine met its maker down in the tranny tunnel yesterday...anybody know where I could get one or could I just make one out of copper?

About your fiber optic light: if you know the bulb is good, first check the fuses. I am not positive which line the fiber light is on, either brake or courtesy circuit. Check your brake lights & the inside courtesy light. If both work, you know right away the fuse is not the problem...
Check the ground connection on the light fixture itself to see that it is not corroded or messy. If it appears to be clean, then check the hot wire running back from there - a test light or simple probe would be really handy for this! You said some of your dashlights & the dimmer won't work? Do you mean the dimmer dial, or the 3-position switch, or both? The fiber light is connected to that dimmer dial, so if it won't light up, the wiring at the dial (or the dial itself) is the next step. Jumper a wire across the dimmer dial to see if you can patch power through to the light. If that works, your dimmer is bad. If not, then go with the hot line backward toward the fuse panel...
About the window switch, any number of vendors will have another switch, or you can seek out a used one (I don't have one or I'd give it to ya) - You might be able to fashion a new contact out of some metal, but I would only bother with that as a last resort. Maybe you could get one of those long 3-fingered grabbing tools to fish it out of the tunnel with? -Mac.

About your fiber optic light: if you know the bulb is good, first check the fuses. I am not positive which line the fiber light is on, either brake or courtesy circuit. Check your brake lights & the inside courtesy light. If both work, you know right away the fuse is not the problem...
Check the ground connection on the light fixture itself to see that it is not corroded or messy. If it appears to be clean, then check the hot wire running back from there - a test light or simple probe would be really handy for this! You said some of your dashlights & the dimmer won't work? Do you mean the dimmer dial, or the 3-position switch, or both? The fiber light is connected to that dimmer dial, so if it won't light up, the wiring at the dial (or the dial itself) is the next step. Jumper a wire across the dimmer dial to see if you can patch power through to the light. If that works, your dimmer is bad. If not, then go with the hot line backward toward the fuse panel...
About the window switch, any number of vendors will have another switch, or you can seek out a used one (I don't have one or I'd give it to ya) - You might be able to fashion a new contact out of some metal, but I would only bother with that as a last resort. Maybe you could get one of those long 3-fingered grabbing tools to fish it out of the tunnel with? -Mac.
