In those cars that I read have a cable fitted, where does it come thru into the rear hatch? I hate drilling unnecessary holes into the body of my X, so would prefer to feed a cable thru a hole and grommet that is already there. Could it be fed thru the hole that the rear hatch emergency cable comes thru, or is there a more suitable access hole somewhere? Would be grateful for any suggestions.

[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->Unless it has broken off or has been removed, it's likely that you have it... it runs on the drivers side, and is sometimes covered by the rear trunk mat. I don't know if they are ALL the same, but all the ones I have seen are an orange wire loop. There are some cars that don't have them (mine for example, but it's on my list of things to do)... but the majority of cars I have seen have this intact.

Cheers,

[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->Hi Doc - yep, absolutely sure that there is no engine cover release cable in the rear trunk of my car. Shortly after buying the car (and following the good advice of yet another post on this forum) I stripped out all of rear trunk false floor and thermal blanket searching for the evil rust. Very little rust there luckily, and certainly didn't notice any cable coming thru from the engine compartment - and there is no sign of any cable remains up on the engine cover lock. Only the standard cable running from the LH side release levers. My car is a UK spec "Serie Speciale" but registered from new here in NZ - did UK spec X's have this cable fitted I wonder? cheers, ian <!-- google_ad_section_end -->
