Last night I finally installed the R-1380 K&N filter.
I used a exhaust fitting (2 1/4" diameter X 3 1/2") the bottom of the filter is BARELY touching one of the AC metal pipes.
And this morning while getting into the freeway ramp, pushed the throttle all the way down (As always) +/- to 5500-6000 rpm's and hear something new , my engine howling!! BEAUTIFUL!!
Do you remember youth, when you toke your dad's V8 for a spin and as soon as you where around the corner stopped and removed the air filter so you could hear the carburetor four barrels opening all at once?
It's a deep throat sound, that is just beautiful! I don't think is just the filter, because I had the bigger filter installed since Friday, and I didn't noticed much difference.
Now I am going to remove the inner plastic air duct to have more "groaning" noises as described by Steve A.
It's just great...!

Oh, and as a follow up to my questiosn from a few months back about removing the AC condenser without removing the radiator... it can be done, and it wasn't all that hard... once the grill is off, and the (exposed) bottom bolts removed, there are only two nuts on the back side of the condenser to remove - one on each end... hard to reach. The cut the tubing, and it drops off onto your head... luckily it doesn't weight much!

Please remember that we do need AC during the summer time, and I use the 'X as a daily driver.
I got my current 'X last spring and the AC works! (to be completely honest, not well) it needs charging, but it does blow some cold air.
I didn't serviced the AC last year because first I wanted to fix properly the cooling system before adding the extra heat to the engine, now it seems to be working fine, so I will try to charge the system with freon in a couple of months.
Hey Doc, why don't you take some pictures of your car showing the bumper mods you did!
