I am trying to replace all of the fuel lines on my '86 while the intake manifold is off of the car - I have read (and printed) Lalo's tech page about fi hose replacement...he specifically says use 7.5mm hose for this application, but NOBODY has this stuff. I have checked everywhere (VW dealers, numerous import parts houses, even Bayless, IAP, and Vick Auto). They all say they have never had any problem using 5/16"/8mm...I even had one place tell me that Fiat themselves started shipping 5/16"/8mm hose at a point and they dropped Fiat's hose and went straight to the hose manufacturer because it was cheaper - what gives? I am going out of town for two weeks starting next Friday and hate to leave the engine disassembled for that long (It already has been for several weeks - although the intake/exhaust ports are all covered with Ziplocks to keep dust, etc. out of them. I need to know what to do here - Lalo, where do you get your hose from? Anyone, anyone?

I also need to replace my fuel lines on my '86, and after reading Lalo's post I went to a repair shop that specializes in German high performance cars, they told me that they have the required hoses.(They will sell them by the ft)
I had been moving the last two weeks, and I have not been able to go back to that shop.
I can try to go tomorrow, please let me know if you want me to get some hoses for you at the same time.
I hope that Lalo can share with us the length of the hoses required also, I believe that we need two different types of hoses (One after the pump and other for the fuel rail)

BTW, I replaced the fuel line from the pump to the filter and the filter to the steel tube with regular 5/16" (8mm) hose because I could get a good seal on it with a regular 5/16" radiator hose-type clamp. From the other end of that steel line to the fuel rail, then cold start valve, between the two fuel rails, and the lines to the injectors themelves appear to be that funky connector type with the little sealing collar that you can't put a clamp on. That is where I am running into problems. So you may be able to get regular MPI line from a 'mainstream' parts place for the first leg of the run, and then we can use the stuff Lalo suggests for the rest of it -
I used to have a VW Scirocco with Bosch K-Jet FI...I wonder how the fuel lines connected on that particular version of the FI...?
Anyway, let me know what you find out about shipping, etc...
