Gas Tank

Pulled the gas tank off the 81X full of rust and crud. Anyone have ideas on how to clean and restore. I have been looking at KBS coating? Any ideas appreciated.

Another used tank in better shape might be a cheaper/easier/better solution.

I would call around to a few radiator shops. Some of them do gas tanks.

Tell them you want it "boiled out". They put it in a mild acid bath that is heated for 24 hours.

I did this on my '86 tank, and the results were great.

I used KBS motorcycle size off ebay(20 bucks or so)

My tank only had a few rust spots inside. It cleaned it out and and seemed to coat it well. It should work........

Thanks everyone for your input after checking all the alternatives I decided to go with KBS and coat the tank myself. I will let you know how it turns out.
