I have to share this news; I can’t keep this secret anymore!
I remember about dreaming of buying a new X’s back on the 80’s in Ventura, CA., but never meet the requirements ($), I clearly remember that red Bertone in the dealership; it was just beautiful.
It’s been always one of my dreams, (driving a new X’s) well last Saturday I did it, in San Francisco after Connie and I picked one of the three X’s that where for sale about month and a half ago, I choose the black one!
Was not easy because even at the ‘reduced price’ it was a lot of money for me, and honestly I can’t believe how did I managed to convince Connie and also the required finances, but now it’s official and the car now has about 750 miles on it!
Saturday night, we flew from Orange Co. into Oakland picked up the car and drove through SF for a few hours with no problem at all!
Sunday morning after stopping for breakfast I started having trouble engaging second gear, and after looking into the hydraulic reservoir I found an almost black liquid with very low level. I wasn’t completely surprised since that hydraulic has been there since 1986! So I just added some brake fluid and re-adjusted the clutch lever at the belhousing
After the completely disassembling two crabs at the Fisherman’s Warf, we headed south and stopped by Lalo’s house and he helped me to replace all the hydraulic fluid on the clutch system, using a pressure bleeder connected to the reservoir.
It took us the most part of ten minutes to completely replace and bleed the slave cylinder! (Less than 10 minutes!)
Let me tell you that, now I must have one of those things… Lalo told me that he paid about $45-$50 they are so easy to use and allows a true one person bleeding very quickly.
After the bleeding procedure, we drained some transmission oil out (was overfilled) and the car shifted very smooth afterwards, Thanks Lalo!!.
Then we drove in the rain for about 4-5 hours and got back to Orange Co., just past midnight, and I had been driving the car the hole week without any problem.
Sorry to write such a long story but you can’t believe how happy I am. I also found out that (after all)...I really love my wife

The car had 61 miles on the odometer when we picked it up in Oakland on October 3rd. Last week when I posted my message the car already had 750 miles, that mileage was after we drove around San Francisco, returning to Orange Co. and driving it for most of the week to work.
Yesterday I replaced the brake hydraulic fluid and also drained the gearbox and filled with Redline MTL and let me tell you something, this stuff it’s simply great Even in the new gearbox I could tell the difference with the MTL versus the conventional oil. I had been using it on my other car for almost two years.
The only difference is that now I don’t have any oil leaks and the difference is more noticeable, perhaps by being new…
I also did one of the leather seats, because the leather was very tight but you could feel it dry, so I didn’t want to get any cracks on the seats, latter tonight I will try to do the passenger seat as well.
Up until now, the only repairs required besides the hydraulic fluids replacement was one of the roof seals (seals the window), that got loose.
The AC works great, but perhaps will need re-charging once gets really hot outside.

The car had 61 miles on the odometer when we picked it up in Oakland on October 3rd. Last week when I posted my message the car already had 750 miles, that mileage was after we drove around San Francisco, returning to Orange Co. and driving it for most of the week to work.
Yesterday I replaced the brake hydraulic fluid and also drained the gearbox and filled with Redline MTL and let me tell you something, this stuff it’s simply great Even in the new gearbox I could tell the difference with the MTL versus the conventional oil. I had been using it on my other car for almost two years.
The only difference is that now I don’t have any oil leaks and the difference is more noticeable, perhaps by being new…
I also did one of the leather seats, because the leather was very tight but you could feel it dry, so I didn’t want to get any cracks on the seats, latter tonight I will try to do the passenger seat as well.
Up until now, the only repairs required besides the hydraulic fluids replacement was one of the roof seals (seals the window), that got loose.
The AC works great, but perhaps will need re-charging once gets really hot outside.
