Make it in your home workshop! First go to your local kite shop, (the best source of cf tube for such criticaly needed parts as cf shifter rods, h/lite/turn/ wiper wands, heatshield standoffs, and wiper arms) Purchase a piece of 3/8 od stuntkite spar. Remove and cut your original brace about 1 1/2" from each end. Cut the cf tube to allow about 1" overlap with the brace parts at original length. Roughen the areas of old brace going into the tube, file down if needed for a tight slip fit, clean and epoxy into tube ends, maintaining corect orientation of end pieces for correct function. *These benefits are calculated, and not verified by actual testing. [FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->Pick up some cf tube to build door latch control rods and wiper links, too! Glad you liked my venture into Popular Mechanics, ca 1962. Iv' often thought I should write ad copy for J Peterman, something like....... I was enjoying a fine double capucino in a favorite bistro outside Bologne, when the sweet song of a hot X1/9, flawlessly double downshifted caught my ear. Minutes later, a lithe beauty with a wonderfully windblown mane, swept in from the street, and somehow I knew it was her I'd heard. Her appraising glance told me she recognized a fellow aficionado, and after sharing a bowl of pasta putanesca, and a bottle or so of Montepulciano, my X followed hers to a quaintly battered villa on the Via Veloce. I'll never forget the ebon gleam of her eyes, rivaled only by her X's hand rubbed lacquer finish, or the polished alloy cockpit fittings of her car. Given her by an elder uncle, who'd served his apprenticeship with Bizarini before the war, he'd hand formed them of sheet alloy salvaged from Italian fighter planes. Il Maestro is gone, but his grandson forms and polishes, entirely by hand, the knobs, pulls and levers of the Superlegera collection. Only from J Pretentious,... because they don't make them like that anymore. I'm not sure who I'm channeling when I do that, but suddenly I don't feel the need to use Italian words I can't spell. lololo I was thinking AFT on the trunklid and couldn't figure out what you were doing to the spring until I remembered the FWD lid and the stay that is slightly corroded on mine. Unsightly, right ?

How much is this 3/8 tube going for typically ?

Thanks,
