I found a thermo-electric switch that fits the hole but would like to find a simple plug.
I don't know precisely what went in this spot, it is on the spark plug side of the head, 18mm diameter and either 1.5 or 1.25 pitch. Toward the flywheel end of the engine.
I think this was the location of the thermo-vacuum switch to retard the distributor. Like this:

It appears that 18mm set screws in the fine thread pitch are at best extremely rare, or actually non-existent.
Anyone have an source?
