The funny (?!?) thing is the fluid leaked out of the slave while the car was on a trailer. I'm at my wits' end, stuck as I have no other car. Have you replaced the slave seals? Maybe the fluid is just pushing past the piston, rather than fully displacing the clutch lever. Master cylinder could also need replacement. The hydraulics on my daily driver X used to fail routinely every two years. Pretty much the same with wheel bearings.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

The clutch was working perfectly when I loaded it on the trailer 10 days ago, except for a leaky slave. Like a fool, I disposed of the old slave before getting the new one working. I'm sure the master is good, no leaking. The pedal has no resistance, it just goes to the floor effortlessly. When I pump the pedal with the slave unmounted (line connected), it doesn't even move the piston one bit. It's acting like there's a whole bunch of air in the system, but where and why hasn't it bled out? I've put 12 ounces of fluid through it. Thanks alot for all the quick responses. You guys just sit in front of your computers on Friday nights? Wait a minute, that's where I am....

I had the exact same problem when bleeding my clutch. What I did was to unbolt the slave cylinder from the tranny and make the bleed screw the highest point. Once I did that, I was able to get the air out.
Apparently the air was getting trapped in a pocket in the slave while the clean fluid was getting bled out of the system.

I heard the most wonderful sound of hissing air, the minute i did it! Got pressure rigt away after that. After that, no problems. I am also in Boston. Then open the bleed screw on the slave cylinder and bleed it further.
That was the only thing that worked for me using the "two-man" method!

I've tried everything I can think of, including lots of tips from this site's archives. Endless two person pumping, vacuum pumps, nothing works. The funny (?!?) thing is the fluid leaked out of the slave while the car was on a trailer. I'm at my wits' end, stuck as I have no other car. I just can't bear driving by matching the revs. Any ideas would be just peachy. Got suicide hotline on speed dial.

Have you replaced the slave seals? Maybe the fluid is just pushing past the piston, rather than fully displacing the clutch lever. Master cylinder could also need replacement. The hydraulics on my daily driver X used to fail routinely every two years. Pretty much the same with wheel bearings.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Are you getting absolutely no flow to the slave cylinder ? As pointed out in the above response post....are you getting a system that appears to be bled but will not actuate the slave cylinder (due to slippage(past the seal(s))). Are you getting a dead pedal ? Please elaborate.

The clutch was working perfectly when I loaded it on the trailer 10 days ago, except for a leaky slave. Like a fool, I disposed of the old slave before getting the new one working. I'm sure the master is good, no leaking. The pedal has no resistance, it just goes to the floor effortlessly. When I pump the pedal with the slave unmounted (line connected), it doesn't even move the piston one bit. It's acting like there's a whole bunch of air in the system, but where and why hasn't it bled out? I've put 12 ounces of fluid through it. Thanks alot for all the quick responses. You guys just sit in front of your computers on Friday nights? Wait a minute, that's where I am....

I had the exact same problem when bleeding my clutch. What I did was to unbolt the slave cylinder from the tranny and make the bleed screw the highest point. Once I did that, I was able to get the air out.
Apparently the air was getting trapped in a pocket in the slave while the clean fluid was getting bled out of the system.

I heard the most wonderful sound of hissing air, the minute i did it! Got pressure rigt away after that. After that, no problems. I am also in Boston. Then open the bleed screw on the slave cylinder and bleed it further.
That was the only thing that worked for me using the "two-man" method!
