(this usually causes the battery to run flat... especially if you DIDN'T KNOW you left the switch on!)
I have read somewhere of a couple of solutions to rewire the headlight switch, the fuse block, or the ignition switch, in order to run the Parking Lights with the ignition ON... not OFF.
Sounds simple... but I can't even get to the back of the headlight switch... how does that come out without breaking it????
And that (*&^%^& wiring diagram drives me NUTS!
Help... anyone! I wanna cruise in style at sunset with the headlight doors down and the roadlights and parking lights on... illegal or not!

Everything I do seems ta cause more problems.

Who says you can't purchase (1) switch, wire it direct to the battery, snip/isolate every lamp you want to run through that switch...then carefully loom all of your feeder wires from the lamps you've chosen to that switch ?

I'd probably seal the original wires well to prevent potential grounding or arcing. This method is a major patchwork around the original wiring schematic....but it'd work. I don't think you have a computer to trick in this application.
I'd probably also make a good sketch to show your modification. ( for your own future reference ).

Down and dirty method but works if you really, really, really have to isolate parts of a circuit.

Cautions that are probably not applicable:
A Failed lamp, or open circuit doesn't
send current to a warning light indicator.
A lamp is not being used as a series fuse.
( some bizzare general applications have done that )

It was kinda cool to turn on the parking lights and have the headlights glow rather strangely. They didn't look like headlights on a dead battery, it's hard to explain. That's probably why I liked them, it was hard to put your finger on what you were looking at. Anyway, I'm sure it's because of these headlights that Fiat wired their headlight motors to pop up when parking lights are turned on.

(this usually causes the battery to run flat... especially if you DIDN'T KNOW you left the switch on!)
I have read somewhere of a couple of solutions to rewire the headlight switch, the fuse block, or the ignition switch, in order to run the Parking Lights with the ignition ON... not OFF.
Sounds simple... but I can't even get to the back of the headlight switch... how does that come out without breaking it????
And that (*&^%^& wiring diagram drives me NUTS!
Help... anyone! I wanna cruise in style at sunset with the headlight doors down and the roadlights and parking lights on... illegal or not!

Who says you can't purchase (1) switch, wire it direct to the battery, snip/isolate every lamp you want to run through that switch...then carefully loom all of your feeder wires from the lamps you've chosen to that switch ?

I'd probably seal the original wires well to prevent potential grounding or arcing. This method is a major patchwork around the original wiring schematic....but it'd work. I don't think you have a computer to trick in this application.
I'd probably also make a good sketch to show your modification. ( for your own future reference ).

Down and dirty method but works if you really, really, really have to isolate parts of a circuit.

Cautions that are probably not applicable:
A Failed lamp, or open circuit doesn't
send current to a warning light indicator.
A lamp is not being used as a series fuse.
( some bizzare general applications have done that )

It was kinda cool to turn on the parking lights and have the headlights glow rather strangely. They didn't look like headlights on a dead battery, it's hard to explain. That's probably why I liked them, it was hard to put your finger on what you were looking at. Anyway, I'm sure it's because of these headlights that Fiat wired their headlight motors to pop up when parking lights are turned on.

In places that are already particularly well lit, it is illegal to use your headlights at night, but healights help say "car" so hence the city light option. Sort of a very low wattage DRL.
Many aftermarket H4's have an option for these, or you can add them later by various means. Very popular with the German car fans, I used to be one!

In some scandinavian countries you have to drive with low beams at all times. In Germany, driving with parking lights on (the little bulbs in the headlights) is illegal. These lights are only to be used for parking. They do come in handy when parking on narrow earopean streets where you can legally park halfway in the road right around a bend in the road. You do leave them on all night. Many german cars will turn on one side of the parking lights if you leave the turn signal lever on, cuts power consumption in half.
