Re-wiring lights question

Id like to wire the side marker "running" lights on the 128 to act as turn signal lights. I believe I need to swap the socket to a dual filament type, is that correct? has anyone done it? Any tips? id like to eliminate the turn signal lights that hang below the front bumper.

Take the socket from the turn-signal lamp & swap (or add) it into the corner lamp.
