Sparco drilled aluminum pedals and intend to install them tomorrow. I've found that I can only double clutch using my wide, thick soled sneakers so these pedals should be functional as well as stylish. My car's becoming more of a (psuedo!) racer every day!! hehe These pedals are the most secure in that a mounting holes must be drilled in the existing pedals so that the covers can be bolted on. Most of the other covers involve very sketchy looking clamps. I'll post pics and installation instructions tomorrow after I get the conversion done.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Something I've never understood about these pedal kits (other than being purely cosmetic) is that they are "designed" to make the pedal's lighter and provide better grip for proper racing boots (which tend to slip all over the place if you're not careful) - so why on earth are they an add-on instead of a replacement? Not to mention the fact that experience has taught me that nice shiny pedals are even worse with race boots.
If Sparco (like all the other manufacturers) had a product range purely for the boy-racers who just want to look the part, and a separate range for the real men - then I could understand, but they don't (that I have ever seen) and neither do any of the other manufacturers.

With the current trend towards the rice-burner market, there have been some lousy, flashy, and outright dangerous covers put on the market. Pedals designed purely for looks and not at all for performance. The pedal covers I bought include rubber nubs that can be placed in the holes drilled in the pedal for better grip, but if there is such a grip problem in the first place (haven't tried them yet) why do all the touring and rally cars have very similar (if not the same) looking pedals? Also, I think a complete racing pedal assembly would be very cool instead of just going for the covers. However, when covers are bolted on properly, they are VERY secure and I just don't care about the few ounces I'm gaining in weight. I will give a full report when I'm done with the install, however and let you guys know how they really feel. Probably won't happen today as planned however.. it's raining and having no garage, I'd rather not use my electric drill in the elements!<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

That said, I am completely un-able to heel/toe and X. There just isn't any way I can get my feet into position to do it accurately. I don't heel/toe anyway, I left foot brake instead.

(not that I need to double clutch in an autocross anyways...) Double clutching is effortless while getting to the race, however, and there is much more surface area to the pedal. And hey, they look great! Two thumbs up! [FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->The X's stock throttle pedal is shaped to make it easier to heel toe. That is what the little curve at the bottom is for. That said, I am completely un-able to heel/toe and X. There just isn't any way I can get my feet into position to do it accurately. I don't heel/toe anyway, I left foot brake instead.

(not that I need to double clutch in an autocross anyways...) Double clutching is effortless while getting to the race, however, and there is much more surface area to the pedal. And hey, they look great! Two thumbs up! If you're sold, just make sure you get the ones you have to bolt through the pedal, not the clamp-on ones (which are quite dangerous).<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
