Speedo cable problems.

In case you did not see my post under FSW (WTB short speedo cable) I have repaired my short speedo cable with JB Weld epoxy. Now I have a new problem. The long replacement cable I purchased has too much of the inner spinning part on the inside of the cable. I have tried putting the cable on from front to back and vice versa, but I always end up with too much of the inner part of the cable and cannot make the connection to either the trans or the short cable. Right now I have over 1 1/2" of extra inner sticking out of the trans end connector. Anyone seen this problem before? Oops I posted this in the wrong section!
 
I had exactly the same issue this last week when I replaced mine.

It turned out the end of the shaft had broken off inside the speedo drive assembly at the transmission end.

I ended up twisting a small drillbit between my fingers to catch the remnant and pull it out.
