I have just replaced all the linkages for the wipers(thanks David) but now just before the wipers hit bottom and start their upswing the whole thing stops and the motor causes the links to shudder in one spot. A little push and it passes that spot and continues until it is back again and shudders,,I would think that giving that little push going 70 down the road would be tough---I have short arms---so I'm hopeful that there might be another way to fix it. I am now assuming that maybe a gear inside the motor may be worn down. I have lubed everything and nothing is too tight as far as I know. If you have any other ideas, I would appreciate hearing them before I tear it apart to see.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

When the wipers are at the bottom of their sweep the mechanical advantage (leverage) on the linkage system from the motor is at it's least efficient which would place a significant load on the motor to overcome.
The fact that the arm is shuddering (and not moving) would implicate a gear wheel skipping probably as a result of the increased torque load at that point. A sticky linkage would not have this effect - it would simply become stuck.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
