However, in practice there should be little trouble with it. I would suggest using a quality sythetic gear oil if you will be flat towing great distances on a regular basis. But for the occasional short haul, don't worry about it.
There is nothing very different about the Fiat transaxle that would present a problem. Manuals get flat towed all the time without touble. I did have a nice retired gentleman bring me his Jeep Cherokee that he flat towed behind his motorhome. These are popular because you can shift the transfer case into neutral and the transmission doesn't turn at all. But he forgot to put the transfer case in neutral and towed his Cherokee several hundred miles in Park! Needless to say the tranny was toast.
