Secondly... I think you need to further BLEED the clutch slave cylinder.
I believe you should be able to see a good 1" of movement... to achieve this, first loosen the hose fitting at the slave cylinder and have someone pump the clutch. (Insure you don't run out of fluid... put a little catch pan under the car...)
Then... re-tighten the hose and bleed it at the bleed port. Re-tighten and you should have a decent throw and be able to get it into the first four forward gears...
As for 5th and reverse... Bad news... I used to park so I could always pull forward... or could roll it out backwards...
Steve Holscher on this site doesn't advertize here but does do this work... (Shipping coast to coast is about 50 bucks one way though Fedex Surface and others) You can also post a need for a good USED trans on the FS&W portion of this site.
Generally about $350 - $500 used.. (I was EXTREMELY fortunate... one site member took pity on me... I still need to repay him someday)... and then about $1000 - $1500 rebuilt.
Four-speeds are more plentiful and stronger and I believed used in racing a bit more... Again, Steve would be the expert!

When you say it is grinding going into gear, is that all gears? or just 5th and reverse.
I am not sure what the noise is you hear on engaging 5th and reverse. I assume it is grinding going into these two gears? Is this noise in addition to the grinding? When you are driving the car? or just sitting still and engaging the gear?

Mine will do that if I get the shift coupler too far to the right. You may need to play with the shift coupling to get it centered a bit better. Make noise, yes. Fail to release don't see how.
Pilot bearing on most cars could cause this, but the input shaft of an X trans does not enter the pilot at the end of the crank.

Secondly... I think you need to further BLEED the clutch slave cylinder.
I believe you should be able to see a good 1" of movement... to achieve this, first loosen the hose fitting at the slave cylinder and have someone pump the clutch. (Insure you don't run out of fluid... put a little catch pan under the car...)
Then... re-tighten the hose and bleed it at the bleed port. Re-tighten and you should have a decent throw and be able to get it into the first four forward gears...
As for 5th and reverse... Bad news... I used to park so I could always pull forward... or could roll it out backwards...
Steve Holscher on this site doesn't advertize here but does do this work... (Shipping coast to coast is about 50 bucks one way though Fedex Surface and others) You can also post a need for a good USED trans on the FS&W portion of this site.
Generally about $350 - $500 used.. (I was EXTREMELY fortunate... one site member took pity on me... I still need to repay him someday)... and then about $1000 - $1500 rebuilt.
Four-speeds are more plentiful and stronger and I believed used in racing a bit more... Again, Steve would be the expert!

When you say it is grinding going into gear, is that all gears? or just 5th and reverse.
I am not sure what the noise is you hear on engaging 5th and reverse. I assume it is grinding going into these two gears? Is this noise in addition to the grinding? When you are driving the car? or just sitting still and engaging the gear?

Mine will do that if I get the shift coupler too far to the right. You may need to play with the shift coupling to get it centered a bit better. The grinding into 5th and reverse may go away with shifter adjustment as well.

Make noise, yes. Fail to release don't see how.
Pilot bearing on most cars could cause this, but the input shaft of an X trans does not enter the pilot at the end of the crank.
