This is a Swede with the need of speed.
Has anyone the knowledge of what kind other kind of Fiat fivespeed transmissions boxes
that are possible to fit to an orginal X1/9, 15000, without to much rebuilding?
For an example, the saying here in Sweden is that a tranny from a Ritmo is directly
exchangeable with a X1/9, let go with some other ratio (less acc, lower rpm/5th gear).
True? Is there any special modell for exact fitting?
Is that the only type directly exchangeable?

There are a number of front wheel drive transmissions that have the same internals, but their shift linkage comes out at the wrong end of the transmission.
You could use the internals from a Ritmo or Uno transmission I believe.

Your answer is the one I expected, but some answers I have got said, "directly internchangeable", and I was looking for a second opinion.
The revese does not stay in gear some times, and it takes a carefull hand to find the gears with my exxy, but there is no "panic" with a tranny exchange so I am thinking about a Uno Turbo convert, including a tranny untill next winter.
So is the "exxy movement" strong in the US? How many cars are running?

I am pretty sure that it doesn't fit because of the transmission linkage. In a Ritmo, the transmission is in front of the shifter, on an X1/9 behind the shifter. That's why AFAIK (I have never seen a Strada transmission) the shift linkage comes out the opposite end of the case.

Your answer is the one I expected, but some answers I have got said, "directly internchangeable", and I was looking for a second opinion.
The revese does not stay in gear some times, and it takes a carefull hand to find the gears with my exxy, but there is no "panic" with a tranny exchange so I am thinking about a Uno Turbo convert, including a tranny untill next winter.
So is the "exxy movement" strong in the US? How many cars are running?

Is there any Ritmos in the US?
I've checked this Ritmo question and yes a Ritmo fits without any modifications, a Uno (mark 1) fits if the housing of the X1/9 is used (use the internals from the Uno).<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

I am pretty sure that it doesn't fit because of the transmission linkage. In a Ritmo, the transmission is in front of the shifter, on an X1/9 behind the shifter. That's why AFAIK (I have never seen a Strada transmission) the shift linkage comes out the opposite end of the case.
Of course I have been wrong before...
