INACCURATE GAUGES ( JUST A LITTLE )BUT ALWAYS
RELIABLE.
HERE'S MY PROBLEM: WHILE DRIVING IN ANY GEAR FOR SOME UN KNOWN REASON I LOOSE POWER LIKE I HAVE WATER IN THE FUEL. I PUMP GAS PEDAL UTILL I GET THE POWER BACK AND THEN IT DRIVES FINE. I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT GRADES OF FUEL ALL WITH WATER REMOVER ADDED AND I STILL HAVE THAT PROBLEM.
SOMETIME IT HAPPENS WHEN SHIFTING GEARS.
..... IS THIS A COMMON PROBLEM OR WHAT??.......
ALSO: CAR BANGS AND POPS GOING OVER BUMPS - PRETTY SURE IT IS SUPENSION BUT WHICH PARTS
( SHOCKS ARE FINE )? PLUS WHILE GOING OVER UNEVEN SURFACES THE CAR SEEMS TO JUMP ALL OVER THE ROAD IS THIS ALSO A SUPENSION OR STEERING PROBLEM.
ALSO: I HAVE TO PUT THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR TO GET CAR STARTED AFTER IT HAS WARMED UP. WHAT CAN THIS BE? PLEASE LET ME KNOW. YOU CAN ALSO E-MAIL IF YOU LIKE AT: DJL309TR@AOL.COM THANKS....<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->Hi there... at least you can rule out points, condensor, float or needle and seat (since you don't have any)
happy.gif

Seriously, you need to check the basics first. Carefully check the main ground between body and transaxle. Also check the two FI grounds at the cam tower...
An intermittent problem can be very hard to trace.
I have seen the FI double relays cause this problem. I would be more suspicious of that if it happened between shifts or when resuming acceleration after coasting.
Bad throttle switch or wiring. Could be a fuel pressure problem. At the very least, tee a fuel pressure gauge into the line and observe the fuel pressure when the car acts up.. should be around 35 psi. If it suddenly drops, then you are looking at a pump or regulator or electrical supply to the pump problem. So if it holds steady when the car acts up, you have eliminated lots of possible problems.
On your hot re-start problem.. keep the fuel pressure gauge hooked up.. does the car hold fuel pressure when shut off. If not, a pressure regulator or injector or cold start valve could be to blame.. If you hold the throttle to the floor when cranking, it shuts of the injectors to clear a flooded condition, so it sounds like it is too rich for one reason or another.. (leaking regulator, injector, etc) or that the coolant temp sensor is giving a problem.. (too much resistance will tell the computer to send too much fuel)..
Check the connector at the temp sensor.. with the car warm and running, wiggle and tug at the connector.. if the idle changes or the car dies, you've found the problem... good luck, and let us know...

[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->Hi again... the main ground is on the side of the transaxle next to the oil filler hole.
The FI grounds are on the top of the motor at two of the cam cover nuts..
The FI coolant temp sensor is in the thermostat housing. LH end of cylinder head.
The FI double relay is in the spare tire compartment. It's a small rectangular box with two connector plugs and lots of wires.
I would change the filter, check the grounds, and check the temp sensor as described previously.
Next I would test the fuel pressure as also described. Good luck,
