water intrusion question

After having Splitpea in my driveway for a month and a half or so i decided to go through a car wash for a quick rinse. While in there water came flooding into the car filling the little box under the fusebox and cascading onto the floor. Fortunately our heat wave dried it out in no time but is there a way to prevent that? Im guessing it flowed through the cowl vent...?

The only way to know where the water is coming in is to get a garden hose and start spraying suspect areas to see where the water enters.

Water can sometimes come in around where the windshield wipers come through the cowling. Check for clogged drains on doth sides of the firewall and the drain in the bottom of the heater box. Those drains have a pinched end on the hose that gets clogged with dirt.
