I opened the panel and saw that the rear defrooster had been installed with the green plug and did nothing. I saw the defroster plug hanging and plugged it in. Rear Defrosters now works. WHAT is the green plug for? I plugged another switch in and it does nothing.

I'm unsure also... but possibly for the REAR fog light on some European models... especially for Great Britain. My '79 came with 3 switches and one Rheostat and one BLANK, with one dangling connector that I never did figure what it went to. I did connect it in error once to the E-Flasher and took about 3 weeks to figure out what I did wrong! I didn't know there was more plugs than switches at the time!
 
Gotta check that

There ARE some dangling wires in te trunk near the antennae. I had installed a motorized antannee decades ago, don't know if those are MY wires or not
 
I used mine...

To power my Fuba antenna amplifier and my rear foglight. One wire is hot all the time, the other is switched by the console switch.
