Are the bushings/arms even available? I don't see them listed in IAP or Vicks catalogs. Most of mine are in pretty good shape, but one is badly ovaled and makes the wipers shimmy when they move.
My wipers also will not park. I checked the switch in the motor itself, it is fine. That means it's the column switch itself..
Hopefully I can repair that myself. If not, I think I can come up with a mod to the wiring so it doesn't need that part of the column switch to work.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

(As far as the "park" mechanism... that is usually determined via the switch in the wiper motor... I tend to agree with your statement that if the switch is is indeed working INSIDE the motor, the problem must be elsewhere... but I can't see where the column switch would/could affect it. There should be two speeds and an off position, and a detent switch that opens the circuit when the column switch is turned off... and it CONTINUES to run until it rteaches the propper PARK position. I guess I mean to say... if it goes ON and goes OFF, even if its NOT where ya want it to be, the Column switch should be OK! Problem with the detent switch or a SHORT around it INSIDE the wiper motor housing.)

Turns out the park problem was a loose connector from the column switch. Got pulled nearly apart in one of the instrument cluster removals. The column switch itself can cause the problem though, per the schematic ('81). The park switch in the motor is powered through the column switch only in the off and intermittant positions. In lo/hi the column switch removes power from the park switch.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

(As far as the "park" mechanism... that is usually determined via the switch in the wiper motor... I tend to agree with your statement that if the switch is is indeed working INSIDE the motor, the problem must be elsewhere... but I can't see where the column switch would/could affect it. There should be two speeds and an off position, and a detent switch that opens the circuit when the column switch is turned off... and it CONTINUES to run until it rteaches the propper PARK position. I guess I mean to say... if it goes ON and goes OFF, even if its NOT where ya want it to be, the Column switch should be OK! Problem with the detent switch or a SHORT around it INSIDE the wiper motor housing.)

Turns out the park problem was a loose connector from the column switch. Got pulled nearly apart in one of the instrument cluster removals. The column switch itself can cause the problem though, per the schematic ('81). The park switch in the motor is powered through the column switch only in the off and intermittant positions. In lo/hi the column switch removes power from the park switch.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
