True Classic
Saturday I had a chance to visit the Turin Auto Museum. They had a special exhibit on Rally cars. It was a treat when I rounded the corner and was met with this.

What I found amazing was how tiny the cars were, I always knew they were but until you are right next to them. I didn't bother looking at the square thing, Gandini's words not mine. Its a shame all the cars had their engine compartments closed.

Yours truly did ~150 rallies and a bunch of hillclimbs mostly codriving. A highlight was hillclimbing in this Integrale. Also some fun wrenching on it. Not as fast as modern rallycars but what a honor.

Lance...iahf, I actually only put carbs on all my Fiats to generate discussions that gives Steve C migraines.

Nige, that dashboard looks like it was designed by Lego.

Hey, it was a very cool looking rally car and a fake Volvo street car. Fiat looked at Ford and realized their rally car should help promote their street cars. Of course the X based rally car would have been the bestest.

Supposedly the Abarth Prototipo X1/9 was faster than the Strato's and ran rings around the 131 but for the reasons you stated FIAT went with the 131 as a way to boost sales. Gandini more or less snorts at the 131 as a rally car in an interview, IIRC it was one with either Davide Cironi or a French automotive journalist, saw it on the Yoo-Toobze. this interview:
