128 wiper linkage wrestling?

My wagon came without any wiper hardware and I got linkage and motor from Midwest. I wrestled with the linkage for an hour trying to get it to fit but with both wiper arm studs in their holes in the cowl, the holes on the mounting plate were at least an inch off from the mounting holes in the body. Has anyone come up against this? Did Fiat make a running change so that the linkage is 90% the same but just off in a few dimensions from one model to the next?

Maybe

The midwest catalog has a linkage and says it's for Yugos also. Do me a favor and look at the picture and see if your Yugo linkage at least looks the same.

Problem solved

Turns out the bracket had a slight twist to it. Once that was untwisted, everything fell into place.
