Thai with a 78 in MN
OMG i thought going to a 14" wheel would open up the tire selections.. but NO.... the closest size ive found was 195/55/14
any thoughts?

Hate to tell you but...
My son has a 1985 Mazda first Gen GSL-SE with the 1300 rotory engine. Tire size 14" x 5.5" 114.3 Bolt circle. Tire selection, narrowing by the day. Hence we are looking at 16"x 6.5". I guess we are about 15 years out of date looking for better rims and tires. 17" are common now and the rims keep getting bigger. The 98MM bolt circle on the X is a difficult one to get by as well.
5 Years ago I purchased 10 Pirelli P6000 13 185/60's and have them stored. I imported them from Turkey, they are since out of production, the choices keep getting more limited each year.

i know.. but i found a website that can convert the 145r13 tire size into normal sizes.. and compares them to conventional sizes, and it says i should use 195/55/14 tires

A common size is 185/55-14 which ist a good "normal" size that works with 6" and 7" wheels.
A good performance size is 195/45-14. A good tire for 6"-8" wheels.
A good bit smaller than stock, allows you to really lower the car without tire rub. But it also requires a very low car to look good...

I run 185/60/14's
On Cromo 14 x 5.5 rims with no problems. I had to trim a bit of the plastic from the front fender liners but the tires fill up the wheel wells nicely.

Got Toyo T1R, 195/45/14 on the car now...and I still worry about tire availability. Like these fine as performance street tires.
There are so few good performance tires in smaller diameters that are not "R" compound.
