1500 and 4 speed?

I've noticed that most of the threads about replacing a 1300 motor with a 1500 also plan on replacing the 4-speed transmission with a 5-speed.

How do people feel about adding a 1500 but keeping the 4-speed?

I have a 1500+4 in the garage now... And it has has a kinda interestingly different personality...

I ran a 1500 4 speed for a few years, its a good combo. Saves you having to swap out your entire rear end to go 5 speed as well.

I am doing a 1500 4spd

I will be putting a 1500 in my 78 and keeping the 4spd. Mostly because the 4spd is still in good shape, so it seemed a shame to replace it.

I have a high power 1500 bolted to my 4spd right now in my Dallara wannabe. I think it works fine.... till making twice as much power over a stock 1500 get the best of the poor 4spd. Mines stuck in 4th right now and thats it.
So I have three more transaxle sitting here.... just have to put one in it and go one with life. Maybe the next 4spd will last longer then a one day race event though I hope. lol

1500 + 4 speed

As already noted, 1500s work fine with 4 speeds. One thing to remember, you will have to use the 4 speed flywheel and clutch. And the 1300/4 speed dust shield.

I have run a few 1500/4spd combos and they work fine. And I have run a 1300/5spd in my 74 for years.
