[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->My own car uses a Lancia Beta saloon (sedan) engine which, in its original site, is canted over rearwardson its mountings to clear the hood as it's front-wheel-drive. The benefits of this (and other) engine swap(s) is that, when fitted into an exxy, the engine is canted towards the rear, clear of the bulkhead. The exhaust is in exactly the same position, the dissy is either at the rear (accessed through the removeable cover plate) or mounted on the end of the cam drive. The carb(s) have better access than the standard car! The right-side-rear chassis leg needs to be relieved in order to be able to fit drive belts over the bottom pulley and the left-rear driveshaft needs shortening if using the donor gearbox (recommended as the 2 litre pushes out a lot more torque). No other major modifications have been found to be necessary, especially if using 40/44 DCNF carbs instead of side-draft types which require a large hole to be cut into the bulkhead. It is not generally known but the induction noise from a pair of these carbs on a long journey can make grown men plead for mercy! Weight distribution does suffer as the Lancia engine/gearbox combination is around 40 kilos heavier but if you live in a dry State you can enjoy the extra traction afforded by the extra heft! There is no problem if you bodykit your car and put bigger wheels and tires in place.
Additionally, as I am planning, the Montecarlo (Spider) engine is a useful upgrade. I've located and bought a 2 litre Abarth cammed unit which, when fitted with an appropriate fuelling system, should push out around 170 bhp.
