2015 Fiat 124 Spider?

Jim McKenzie

1972 850 Spider
Have any of you noticed that several car sites now allude to the Mazda-Fiat Spider (originally to be an Alfa) with the designation "124 Spider"?

Wonder if that's going to happen?

Update: new mockup photo. Using translate it says it will be called the 124 Spider. Who knows if they are correct

I think it would be cool, but I hope they don't call it a 124. It should refer to engine size or the year or something.

makes sense to call it a 124 spider if you look at it in the classic Olds 442 sense (4 barrel, 4 speed, Dual exhausts)...

124 Spider: 1 barrel (throttle body), 2 seats, 4 cylinders :D

Could potentially be a big hit for Fiat in the US. The car will definitely happen considering all the agreements were signed between Fiat and Mazda. There was that change of plans when Sergio wisely decided all Alfas should be assembled in Italy, so this became a Fiat/Abarth project instead.

Hopefully they stick to the plan of having their own distinct body work, interior and use of a Fiat engine.

Too bad that I've never cared for rag tops... :(
