850 rear lights question

Hi all,
Please can anyone tell me why one of my 850 rear light assemblies has a white plastic insert in the lens, while the other has a grey slotted insert which receives the bulb holder assembly? (the light with the white insert has no bulb holder present)

P.s. should anyone have a bulb holder with lens insert for sale, I'm looking!

A picture or two would definitely help. It would also be helpful to at least know the year & model (body type) of 850 you have, as there were several types of taillights used among the various 850's.
