Air leak into cooling system, any tips???

Yesterday I replaced the thermostat (I removed the complete housing not just the bottom with the three 10mm bolts), also replaced the fan switch and installed a stainless water reservoir (Looks cool!).

In the past, every time I bleed the system I do it several times just to be sure I get all the air out (every time I get less and less out from the bleeder untill I don't get any more). However, this time is different it seems that every time I got to the bleeder it gets a lot of air out from the system.

Somehow it seems that the car is sucking air back into the system.

The gasket I used on the thermostat housing was used but in good condition (I didn't have a replacement handy) and no water is leaking out either.

Could be possible to suck air (a lot) by using a used gasket? I was sure to tighten all the hoses and clamps that I removed

Any suggestions here?

If a head gasket seeps slightly it can leak combustion air into the cooling system. Usually this will pressurize/heat the cooling system enough to make it leak somewhere. I don't think your problem would be a bad cooling system gasket, as this would let coolant out, not air in. My other guess would be that there is a trapped pocket of air in the cooling system somewhere that is not getting bled the first time. I'm not sure of this, as I have zero experience working on X's (but to hope to get some soon!). Good luck.

But I was attributing this to the air entering the system.

I have to bleed the air out every time I use the car, and the amount of air is as much as when you start the bleeding procedure.

I hope I don't have to replace the head gasket!
Will a compression test determine something here?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
