It's a marelli 14V/55 A.

I want to remove it but cannot find how.. I slackened the belt and put it aside, I also slackened the pivot bolt under the alternator. But now? It's not possible to shift the thing either left or right.

Should I remove the pivot bracket underneath? It's very awkward (the lower two bolts go ok, but the upper one is tucked in between alternator and water pump. Or should I be able to remove sideways either pivot bolt and adjusting bolt, or both??? In what direction? left or right?

Any suggestions welcome,

Thanks in advance,

Felix

BTW, I don't think it's the alternator.. It puts out 14 volts, also at high revs, never below 13, even with 4 lights on... Can I get to the regulator and brushes with the thing in place?
I'm afraid many springs will come loose, etc.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->I am not familiar with your Marelli alternator. My US-spec 1500 is using a Bosch unit. However, if the mounting method is similar, you should not have to remove any of the brackets.

You should just disconnect any wires from the alternator (make sure to note where they are connected), then remove the nut from the pivot bolt, then that bolt should slide out - whichever side the bolt head is on is the direction you want to pull it out.

Next remove the nut from the bolt in the adjustment slot, and remove that bolt the same way you did the pivot bolt. Then you should be able to lift the alternator out of the car.

I don't know if you can disassemble the Marelli alternator in place, I would just take it out and do it on a table. Let us know if we can help any more! -Mac.

[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->So the bolts should slide out.... question of applying even more force than I already have. Thought so already but was afraid I might have overlooked something.

Keep you posted if they don't
