i'm in lynnwood, the car is in olympia, but i can move it to either place to work on it...

does anyone know of a good body shop that can do this kind of work?
I can fiberglass, but this is a bit more than i want to take on without guideance.
happy.gif

also, does this kit need the panels thickened for street use? (i'm unsure of this, never done it before, the last one was all steel, and i can't find anyone who can do these panels in steel anymore, so...)

also, good roll cage shop somewhere on the i-5 corridor (washington state between olympia washington and bellingham wa)

thanks!

the wording is vauge isn't it? i think 850 for the package is fair. no way would i pay 2700 + shipping from bfe for it. at 3500 or so you're pushing into what you can get them made in steel for.

i'm hoping for an answer ont he quality before i commit to this.

Of course much depends upon who is currently doing the glass layup, but the molds at least must be quite good (if they still have the originals). looking at the picture (http://we.got.net/~fiatplus/dalx.htm)
my first impression was that all the dark panels are the kit, and the rest is stock. (wrong)

hmm.
i zoomed in on the images in pain shop pro, and it's really hard to tell what we're looking at..
my findings thus far are :

1) wing isn't available anywhere else i know, so depending on how bad someone wants one...

2) roof panel is also unobtainum, but as i've never seen the top off i'm assumming this kit is indeed either what it claims to be or someone spent a lot of time building parts i've never seen before for this..

3) it's hard to tell but the side scoops look different than the kit that went on e bay a little while ago, but they are open, whereas the bayless kits' arent. (anyone have one? i got the impression you have to open them up yourself?)

4) hood, at first glance, is stock, but the center groove is missing, so it's aftermarket somewhere..
i know 2 guys that were making these, but both had center grooves. i don't know how to contact any of them, allthough dave white had one on his race car if anyone remembers how to contact him.. (mark? )

5) interior door panels are way different than stock,
it's most likeley fiberglass... umm. why the door handle cutouts? (i know of no way to make the existing hardware work on fiberglass easily...) totally unneccesary for a race car....

(does anyone know if this would be lighter or heavier than a skinned door with aluminimum door skins on the inside?) (again like daves race car)

6) the front air dam assembly doesn't look like it's meant to work with these fenders. even if you take the angle it's sitting at into effect, it's still major overlapping and molding required there.

7) definitley competition only grade parts. looks pretty smooth (don't paint it black) but the fit looks rougher than the bayless (rivets on maybe?) and the bayless glass looks much thicker.

hmm. in the rice world that's a 2500 dollar wing or so, i'm quite sure

... anyone know where i can get one, short of building my own, for reasonable? (i'm willing to gut my doors, but my car is going to stay a convertible so i would have no need for the roof panel, or the doors (fiberglass doors on a street car? umm.. no.
happy.gif
...

actually, i was thinking aboout doing one of the "slightly over the roof" snorkels too, but redesigning the top so it's wider and lower profile..
anyone experimented with this?

i use a 5 panel wink mirror so there shouldn't be any visibility issues...

i'd really like to wander around this guys yard.
looks like a fiat 600 nose in the upper right corner...

[FONT=Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial]<!-- google_ad_section_start -->Hi guys and gals!

I got no idea what forum this is, but I assume someone will e-mail me and tell me.

I got a request from someone named "Denis" to come here and discuss my offering and answer the posted questions. I hope this is what you wanted, but if not please contact me so I can clarify it!

This is a copy of the real Dallara Group 5 body kit, not something else.
1. The rear wing is the one.
2. The top from the kit seems to be the same as what I have on a street 1/43rd model. I know when/if I build a real car with this kit it will not be a street car, so I will not be using this part....
3. The rear quarters are Dallara. Of course, if you wanted to open them up like some other kits, you can. (If I understand correctly) Otherwise I plan on using the stock vents, or at least as close to stock that will fit.
4. The front hood exits the cooling system air thru the top. The lack of the center groove is not a surprise. Of course, this will need to be finished, and I plan on adding a quick fill for the fuel cell at the same time.
5. The kit has no interior door panels, you are on your own here. I know my car will not use any! But the outside panels are basically door skins (and a little bit more), I will use them on specially lightend stock frames myself, basically as little as possible to support them. Depending upon how much "frame" is used for the skins, I suspect that they will be much lighter than stock, but will have no side inpact strength. But that is what the roll cage is for!
6. The front will match up with the front fenders when mounted on the car. Remember, this kit basically reskins your car.
7. Yes, this is race car stuff. I pesonally will only use a couple rivits to locate, then use a modern glue to bond them on. For a show car you would need to do a lot of finish work to pretend to be anything other than a competition car.

All parts can be purchase seperatly, the wing is $1,190.00. It is THE most expensive single item in the kit!

The over the roof snorkle is nice for a street car, but I will not use one on a "Dallara". As you know, many other folks did use one, but not this car.
8. Like my yard? So do I... Wish it was mine! It is actually my supplier's, and that is a 500 Nuova front panel, not a 600. For those of you with good eyes, you will see a lot of other real interesting & rare things...
