Brake/clutch flare nuts?

I need some of the M10x1.25 and M12x1.25 line flare nuts for my brake and clutch pedal assembly work. Where can we get these?

I couldn't find them when i was looking for them just a couple months ago, so ended up just buying the complete lines from bayless. Not very helpful, but just saying I was unable to find them anywhere at that time, so might save you some time to just get the full thing

Thanks...

Thanks for the links. looks like the M10x1.25 are easy enough to find after all. OK not easy but available. The M12x1.25 are harder, they are for a 1/4" line that the clutch uses.

The Monte Hospital carries complete line assemblies with nuts installed, but I am hoping to get the nuts and use local line. I have a double-flare tool and bender.

When i did mine I couldnt find the nuts anywhere except for on complete lines.. I bought 6 or 7 1 foot lines and cut them for the nuts.. wastefull but I couldnt wait.

I got mine from Matt, suspect that the other vendors will have them too.

Depending on how many you need, I can toss a few used ones, both clutch-size and brake-size, into the mail. They may be pretty ratty... I never throw out a scrap hard line without snipping the fittings off the end, just so that I always have a few on hand.

Solved in way...

I found an old-timey brake line shop in Lacey, near Olympia, called ABS Brake Service (auto-start sound warning):
http://www.absautoandbrakeservice.com/

This shop is in the location that was my favorite VW shop/store Northwest Foreign Auto Parts and Repair before we lost the owner to the Big Casino a couple of years ago. Mark was super helpful and was always willing to get me parts for my Fiat/Bertone/Lancia when possible.

So the solution is I had 4 lines made, 3 for the pedal cluster to bulkhead and 1 to bypass the rear mounted front booster circuit, with appropriate ends, for $36.95 incl. tax. Hard to beat the price, speed and supporting local economy and all that.

Funny how almost every little thing on this Scorpion has led to another project and deeper exploration. While getting the cluster out I've learned a great deal about the system layout and also got some gauge cluster time in. Fresh bulbs and cleaning to ensure proper function.

I had "fixed" the car's previous problem by simply replacing the clutch slave cylinder. But, knowing these cars as I do, I decided to go ahead and replace the masters to prevent future breakdowns which are more inconvenient than planned work, even when it goes sideways. This led to the current SNAFU of stripped nuts and twisted line ends. This is what I should expect of getting into a system that is being serviced for the first or second time in 35 years.

Very, very, very wise move ............!

........on your part, Eric!
There is nothing like the feeling of satisfaction, when you rattle around in your "collection of years-old junk that is too valuable to chuck", and find the bits that you "just knew were there"!! :woot:

I stock the brake ones, and can post links if desired.
The clutch ones can be salvaged from the 1974-78 DOHC or 1974-76 SOHC emmissions equipment, I might have one or two...

You'll actually need Brakequip part number BQ9157, which is M12x1.25 for 1/4" line. Part number BQ9192 is M12x1.25, but for 3/16" line, which won't work for a clutch line (unless you drill it out). Here's a link to the Brakequip tube nut page: http://www.brakequip.com/tubenuts.html

FYI - I'm SO close to having a working hydraulic system on my '80 Fiat X1/9, it's not even funny!!! Thanks for all the tips on this forum, guys!
