So I have a mild and I mean mild crack in my brake reservoir. Is it possible to use heat and melt the plastic to seal?

Yes it is, I've done it. You "weld" it, using a soldering iron as a welder and a piece of scrap plastic from a junk reservoir as the rod.
Not my idea, I stole it from one of Bob Brown's posts on 1.0, but it worked just fine for me.
