Can an unused clutch still be good

When I got my 77 Scorpion 2+ years ago. It sat for 20 years in getting it up and running. It ran for 20 minutes then the clutch went I replaced the clutch and my transmission guy said “the old clutch just disintegrated from time. I picked up two years ago, a 75 beta coupe with a whole lot of parts, there is a 20+ year old unused clutch and pressure plate. Are they any good? How long can an unused clutch sit for if not used do they have a life expectancy ?

Well, I regularly drive with a used 40 year old clutch plate. :)

How much is a clutch plate? How much work are you willing to do if one goes bad?

I would inspect it for rust or other issues and if it is good, put it in. Everything is a risk.

Greetings! It is important to consider that even if parts appear to be in good order, problems may arise with their condition due to oxidation and wear processes that may have occurred over time. This is especially true for rubber and other materials that are susceptible to degradation over time.
If you decide to use unused parts, I would recommend inspection and maybe even testing before installation. It may also be worth contacting a specialist or mechanic to assess their condition and safety of use.

Dominick, no disrespect intended. This is a great group of enthusiasts who have recently been discussing AI generated posts.
