Chrome piece

I wanted to know if the chrome piece with weather stripping that squeeze the window on each door shorter on the late model compared to a 74. thanks
 
Since I did not remove the old one what I found out was the early and late model are the same length and the chrome pieces has rubber end caps on both ends.
