Note that the engine is a 1300. Oz spec, so it's an early engine in the later chassis.

Actually the first time I've seen a thrust failure in an X but apparently not uncommon in 1300s.

Also note the engine has done 170,000 km, so it's not exactly new.

Indeed, this is the first time I have seen a thrust bearing failure in one of these engines.

Anyone know what are "legal" engine swap possibilities in Oz?

Well, anything would be classed as legal so long as you satisfy the relevant state's transport department's regulations and inspections.

As to what is *easily* legal, Terry has indicated above that swapping a 1500 for 1300 is not frowned upon as they came from the factory that way.

In my case, however, first choice is that of least resistance - swapping a going 1300 for my toasted 1300.
