DAMON ROYAL KANE ALS TRIBUTE RUN

LOUIS TERESI

Hello,
Please read the following event information below. Many of you know Damon Kane as a contributor to this forum and through Fiat Lancia Unlimited. Damon is a great guy and we should all step up to support him. Please respond no later than the cutoff date of July 7th for registration.

DAMON ROYAL KANE ALS TRIBUTE RUN Sunday, July 29. In support of the ALS Society. Registration form available HERE or below. Damon Kane has been a long term member of our club and along with his wife Michele, a frequent contributor of spirited runs highlighted by outstanding food choices given their gourmet level passion for food and wine. For the past several years he has also developed a weekend run that creates an overdose of spectacular PA area driving and fine dining. As fate would have it Damon learned in 2011 that he has ALS and now must focus his energy on his health. He has been the recipient of assistance from the Greater Philadelphia ALS Society and now it is our chance to repay Damon for the miles and days of fun by raising funds in his name to support the good work of the ALS Society.
We will be hosting a run, a version of the Del Val Classic Bucks County Covered Bridges Run. We will be starting in the Ottsville, PA area following a route to explore most of the covered bridges in Bucks County on our way to a traditional picnic lunch at the Willow Grove Day Camp in Willow Grove, PA. Our club will be joined by three other clubs that Damon and Michele participated with - PhillyMini Club, Delaware Valley Fiat Lancia Unlimited, and Lehigh Valley Miata Owner's Club. It should make for spectacular sites to see packs of sports cars cruising through the country side on a midsummer day.
More details will be posted here as they become available but mark your calendar now to join in this day of fun and tribute to a fellow car enthusiast. Contact Curt Springstead at president*delval.org with questions or ideas for the event.

When: Sun, 29 Jul, 2012 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Location: Nockamixon State Park, Quakertown, PA 18951 (Map)

Our goal is to raise funds to support The ALS Association Greater Philadelphia Chapter PALS program which provides services to with this disease. Up to 30 participants from each of the four clubs will be assigned to a small group of fifteen cars for the run. The Delaware Valley Miata Club in association with the Lehigh Valley Miata Owners Club, PhillyMINI and Fiat Lancia Club will be hosting a tribute run Damon and Michelle Kane, leading members of our Club who now find themselves dealing with Damon’s ALS. The event will begin at the Tohikon Boat Launch, Nockamixon State Park and then takes a scenic loop around Lake Towhee and crosses Sheard’s Covered Bridge. After that we will continue to meander through upper Buck’s County crossing the Erwinna, Frankenfield, Cabin Run, and Loux Covered Bridges. We then progress South through Carversville and near Lahaska (no shopping, please!) to the Van Sant Covered bridge, near Bowman’s Hill Tower and Flower Preserve. A final run takes us to our final destination at the Willow Grove Day Camp, off the Davisville Road, for a picnic lunch and closing presentation.
The entry fee for the event will be $40 per car and includes lunch and a donation to the ALS Association. More details will be posted here as they become available but mark your calendar now to join in this day of fun and tribute to a fellow car enthusiast. Contact Denise at newseditor*delval.org with questions or to register for the event.

Need to fill 20 more slots

We have 9 to 10 registered drivers and 20 more spots which need to be filled. If you have not registered, please do so for this great cause. Each car club has been given 30 spots to fill for the drive. I hope to see you there. If you cannot make the drive, please consider making a donation to the ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) Foundation in honor of Damon Kane at the link in the above post.
